Welcome back! I would like to extend my best wishes to you and your family over the Christmas holidays. This is a wonderful time of the year and hopefully you will be spending the bulk of the holidays at the Club. We've had a great start already. I skied on opening day and the snow was fantastic. It was definitely hero snow and I felt like a pro. The knees next day told me otherwise! Special thanks to the snowmaking crew who got us up and running in such a short time period. I'm looking forward to skiing Rogers today.
Management has been hard at work preparing for the ski season. The obvious sign is the snow on the hill but there have been a number of other improvements as well. Check out the new TV monitor in the lobby where news and upcoming events are posted and start to anticipate a build-your-own hot meat sandwich on rye from our new deli in the lower level. The effects of the tornado can still be seen in the absence of many mature trees but the destroyed lift huts have been replaced (and redesigned) and the Magic Forest is magical once again.
Have a wonderful holiday, travel safe and I'll see you on the hill.
Cheers!
Jeff

It is my pleasure to welcome Mark on his first day as our new General Manager. As announced in June, after a comprehensive search process, the Board chose Mark because of his broad experience in the ski and hospitality industry, his member-centric views on how our Club should operate and his strategic and operational abilities.
Mark brings an in-depth understanding of the ski industry through an impressive seventeen year career as an executive at some of the leading ski resorts in North...

I have just come back from the Club and a subsequent Board meeting and want to provide you with an update after last night's tornado.
First of all, I want to say that we all need to be very thankful that in spite of the extensive damage to the Alpine Centre, the Maintenance Shop and some of the neighbouring condos and chalets, there are no reports of injuries. In fact, we had three employees standing outside of the Alpine Centre who were able to reach safety in the snowmaking plant before "what...
Folks. As you may have heard, there has been extensive damage to the Alpine Centre and some of the condos on Wensley drive. The insurance adjuster is on site doing an assessment and the Board will be meeting later today to get a full briefing from Management. Power is still down so our email server is not available. Please continue to tune in to this Blog for updates and mention to other Members that this is currently our primary vehicle for communicating with our Members.
By this time you have probably heard that severe weather, possibly a tornado, touched down at the Peaks. Management and staff along with some of the Board are on site with fire and police services. The good news is that there are no reported injuries at this time. There is damage to the property and some of the surrounding residences. The area is being secured by fire and police services and security will remain in place over night. The extent of the damage is still being assessed and we will...
Further to our announcement in June that Mark Woodburn would be joining The Georgian Peaks as General Manager, I am announcing today that Rick Trumble has advised the Board that he will be retiring as of August 31, 2009.
On behalf of the Board of Directors and the Members of The Georgian Peaks Club, I would like to thank Rick for his service and contribution to the Peaks over the past 13 years. Rick joined the Club in May of 1996 as Sales & Membership Manager and was promoted in October of...
Dear Peaks Members:
A quick update on the Peaks Project Future Member Survey.
Last Wednesday your Board was presented with a presentation of our Peaks Member Survey results (all 179 pages!) There was a tremendous amount of information gleamed from our Members, including over 350 pages of written comments that provided a wonderful breadth and depth of insight and direction. The Board is working with our new GM manager (Mark Woodburn), who does not officially start until the fall, to...
