Snow and Hill Report
Please remember to not block the emergency access areas. The areas are clearly marked with signs and/or orange cones.
Our day runs 24 hours. We have staff and members here at all hours of the day and night. We do have emergencies and require ambulances from time to time. This can occur even before the lifts and trails are open for our snowsport participants. In the event of a fire, we will need the fire department to respond. These vehicles are much larger than an ambulance or our personal...

Ski Lifts are the means of transport in Ski Resorts. Ride a Ski Lift to reach the top of the slope, then ski your way down.
Aerial Lifts and Surface Lifts are the basic forms of Ski Lifts. Get familiar with these lifts in this section:
Aerial Lifts
Aerial Lifts transport the skiers up the hill while sitting on an open chair or gondola which is attached to a cable. Chairlifts and aerial trams are examples of Aerial Lifts.
Technically speaking, gondolas and chairlifts are trams. Aerial trams...
We have now shut down snowmaking for the season. With a little over 91 million gallons and no thaws to speak of this season, we are comfortable with the amount of snow on our trails. The long range forecast looks cold with continuing snowfall for the remainder of February and possibly into March. This means the conditions should remain as good as they have been to date.
We have removed the snowmaking hydrants from the center line on Rogers and Minute Mile. This is always an exciting exercise for...
Snowmaking resumed this past Sunday night. We made snow through to Wednesday morning. Temperatures were favourable and we managed to make more snow on Rogers, Wilson's Wiggle, Champlain, The Outer Rim, Chimo, Thunder & Thunderhead.
Temperature forecasts indicate good snowmaking opportunities for us to start up on Sunday after closing. We will focus on some areas that we believe require more snow and we will continue to stock pile in areas of need.
The grooming team managed to construct our...
Temperatures dipped down to the -10'C mark last night. The Snowmaking Team started up on Wilson's Wiggle, Thunder Head & Thunder and on Champlain. Our plan is to get back onto half of Rogers & the lower area of Minute Mile this evening. We will continue to focus on topping up the areas on the hill still in need of man made snow. Forecasts are indicating warmer temperatures as the week progresses. Nighttime temperatures look favourable for the next few days.
We have pumped 81 million...
Temperatures finally dropped within snowmaking temperatures at approx. 3:00 am this morning. The team is making snow on Wilson's Wiggle, Thunderhead, Thunder, Tomahawk Glade & Champlain this morning. Temperatures are slowly dropping and we anticipate a steady -6'C to -7'C throughout the day. Overnight lows are looking favourable at -8'C.
The weather over the last couple of days did take it's toll in some areas. The top of Thunderhead & Wilson's Wiggle suffered the most loss of snow....
Temperatures have been cold enough for snowmaking over the last few evenings. We managed to make snow for most of the day on Wednesday. We have reached the 73 million gallon mark.
The long range forecast appears to be warming up again for this coming weekend. Favourable snowmaking temperatures look like they will return for Tuesday of next week.
Our snowmaking focus is to top up our trails with snow to the point that we have reached sustainability for the remainder of the season. We typically...
It seems our January thaw did make an appearance after all. Temperatures have been hovering around the 0'C mark for the last couple of days. We have been hoping for some nighttime lows, but they have not come into fruition. The forecast indicates that we will see these temperatures continue right through until the end of January.
The good news is that the temperatures will are sustainable. In other words, we will not see any serious melting of our snow. We have pumped 71 million gallons of water...

An email I received from one of our members last February had asked the question listed below. Upon responding, the individual suggested that I post my reply on our web sight. The same inquiries were made again today, Jan 15, 2010. In order to respond, I have re-posted the original article. Darrell.
QUESTION:
When we have thaw to freeze conditions like we are experiencing at the moment, is it not better to groom after the temperature drops and the snow is set. Might be worth posting the answer to avoid uninformed speculation.
ANSWER:
Just to give you a little insight as to how our grooming works, (By the way, this type of weather is fondly referred to as "Maple Syrup Weather" by the Operations Team)
- It takes a minimum of 30 hours to groom all of our trails.
- We have a an evening and morning...
Happy New Year to everyone. It seems we are kicking off 2010 in a very positive fashion. We have experienced accumulations of natural snow in the neighbourhood of 25 cm. The Snowmaking Team have been making snow at a furious pace. We have pumped 61 million gallons to date.
We are excited to pass along that we will have a number of additional trails ready to go. Freeloader, Tomahawk Glade, Peggy's Run, Rampage, Snow Bowl, Anaconda Alley and Wilson's Wiggle are open for this weekend. Our Grooming...
