Shawn Letton
Peaks League/Snowboarding/Freestyle Program Director
Shawn started to ski at the age of six at the London Ski Club. Despite the fact that you could ski the runs in London top to bottom in 15 seconds, Shawn worked his way through the Ski School Programs and on to his Level 1 Instructor at age 16. Shawn continued to instruct skiing through his high school and college years but at age 19, he switched to a snowboard after realizing they were actually building jumps for snowboarders.
By 20, Shawn was teaching snowboarding full time and spent one season in London and then made the move to Blue Mountain. After two full seasons at Blue and after completing his Level 2, Shawn made the move to Georgian Peaks as the Snowboard Supervisor. Over the last six seasons at the Peaks, Shawn has continued to evolve with the Club. Shawn began running a successful Freestyle Ski Program and has looked after the Peaks League programs for the past seasons.
Shawn's certification levels include Level 3 Snowboard Instructor, Level 1 Freestyle Instructor, Race and Evaluator for Snowboarding. On the ski side, Shawn is a Level 1 Instructor and a Level 1 Freestyle Instructor.
In the off season, Shawn spent five seasons traveling between the Peaks, Whistler and New Zealand to maximize his time on snow.
Last summer he bought a place in Collingwood. He currently spends his summers putting together the competitive events for Freestyle Ski Ontario were he runs park and pipe, ski cross and mogul events for the Province. Off snow, Shawn spends his time mountain biking, golfing, rock climbing and at the gym.
